Description
This special iteration of the Nike Air Force 1 Fontanka was designed by Cidni O’Brien, who was diagnosed with anomalous aortic origin of the left coronary artery. This means that a critical artery supplying blood to her heart was attached in the wrong place and Cidni’s heart wasn’t getting enough oxygen, causing dangerously poor cardiac function.Six months and one major heart surgery later, Cidni was back on the pitch and playing to win for her high school team, the Lebanon Warriors.
Cidni’s Nike Air Force 1 Fontanka is dedicated to her teammates as well as her beloved animals that are part of her life. The animals get a callout on the sneaker by way of the laces, where the names of her goats, parrot, donkey, chicken, dog, and fish are displayed. Cidni’s horse, Tank is also represented across the left sockliner. Elsewhere you will find Nikki, Cidni’s mother, celebrated along the right, and O’Brien comments that “[she] wouldn’t be here without her.” Taking a deeper dive on the design, if you flip the shoe to its outsole, you’ll find a graphic of shrimp pasta, which is O’Brien’s favorite food. Other details include the soccer ball inspired Swooshes and the heart-shaped perforations on the toe box.
